What this blog means to me // What coffee means to me.
For those new around here, years ago I competed in bodybuilding competitions and had little to no life outside of meal prep, cardio, lifting, and grocery shopping. I loved all that it was, but truly felt the lack luster at social events. No alcohol, no outside food that wasn’t my own etc. The only thing that felt like a treat at times was going for coffee. It was simple but it was something I could partake in, not to mention set the stage for some great conversations.
The name A Cup of Lo came from an early visit to LA during one of my preps. I was determined to find all the coolest coffee shops in the cities I traveled to and document my visits. I was sitting at Jones on Third when my cousin suggested the name, and ever since then the rest is history.
Fast forward two years later, I went through personal struggles with some people in my life. It felt like everything had been taken away from me and so many times I felt like I hit rock bottom. All of the personal development books I was reading and the Youtube videos I was watching at the time kept reminding me to focus on at least one thing that makes me feel good….and that of course was coffee. The days often felt hectic, but despite the facts, I knew I could at least drive to get a cup of coffee. I was in control in that moment and that felt good.
In summary, I think about what different things mean to different people. One time years ago, someone asked me why I buy my coffee so often. I responded with a simple answer that it makes me feel good, to which she stated she thought it was a waste of money. It was in that moment I knew we were having two different conversations.
Cherish the small, happy details of life because sometimes they grow into your purpose. Is coffee my purpose? No no, but it’s most definitely inspired me to start this blog, to start my coaching business, and to promote the possibility to all that I encounter.
I missed you all, and I’m happy to back.
