Wake up San Francisco! Love a good Danny Tanner one liner, anyone else? San Fran had been on my bucket list for what felt like forever so we timed it up with the Browns vs 49ers and made our way out west. We also did a road trip down to Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea during this trip. I’ll write up a separate post for that one.
Our first stop was Bob’s donuts. We actually snagged these before we headed to Big Sur but they’re located right in San Fran! They weren’t ‘instagrammable’ per say but they were the best donuts I’ve had to date. I definitely recommend the apple fritter, the maple, and always a chocolate éclair.
Since we’re on the topic of food, The Mill, known for its toast had some of the best avocado toast I’ve been a witness to. Not to mention, if you’re a sucker for cute coffee shops, this is the spot for you. Snag a seat by the window or outside on one of the benches and enjoy the vibes.
Mr. Holmes bakery has the infamous ‘I got baked in San Fran” sign in their very tiny bakeshop. They’re known for their cruffins (croissant/muffin?) to where the flavors change daily. I didn’t find these as amazing as they were advertised but they also weren’t bad by any means.
Full House Opening Scene
If you grew up in the 90s you were more than likely a Full House fan, I myself being one, therefore I could not pass up some fan frenzy spots! We ventured to the opening scene picnic area where the ‘Painted Ladies’are featured behind them along with a great view of the city. Freaking cool? You got it dude!
As far the original Tanner house goes, I did a lot of research and it seemed like way more work than it was worth. Basically one of the owners ended up removing the famous red door, sold it to another home (might not even be red anymore), and they changed the address! Sounds like this show had some dedicated crazy fans am I right? If you’re up for a good adventure I say go for it, but I took a pass this time!
Fisherman’s Wharf
A touristy spot for sure, but we were there to do exactly that. It offers great views of the water and a viewing point of Alcatraz. Nothing overly amazing but I felt like I had to take a peek.
Sausalito Island
A quaint and charming island across from San Francisco, this spot offers shopping and various dining experiences, not to mention a beautiful view of the water as well. You can either get here via ferry or by car. We had a rental so we happily drove over the Golden Gate bridge into town.
Golden Gate Bridge
She is a beauty without a doubt! As I just said we drove over the bridge into Sausalito but did not realize the only way to get to the vantage point and park was enteringSausalito. We ended up driving it twice so we could pullover and take pictures at this recommended hot spot.
It was a quick trip but fun nonetheless. Since we did Big Sur and Carmel I didn’t want to cram Napa in as well, so we decided to save that and Alcatraz for next time!
