The weather is warming up in Cleveland and summer is officially on it’s way, thank goodness! With vacations, weddings, and patio sitting on the horizon, we want to be able to let loose while not worrying about sabotaging our diets. Cocktails tend to go hand in hand with a lot of these events, so I’m sharing tips and some of my favorite go-tos for low calorie summer drinks. Here are some of my recommendations to enjoy yourself without completing going overboard.
Calorie Friendly:
- Vodka soda/water with fresh lime or lemon.
- You can also add crystal light to vodka waters for some low calorie flavoring.
- If you like margaritas, remove the sour mix (holy sugar) and do tequila, a splash of Grand Marnier, fresh lime, soda water, and low calorie sweetener.
- I know energy drinks aren’t the best for you, but doing tequila, fresh lime, and the white Monster is delicious.
- If you’re a beer drinker, Corona Light is pretty low in carbs but now they have a new one called Corona Premium which has only 2.6g of carbs. I also love Stella and Peroni which both have around 11-12g of carbs as well.
- White Claws or Trulys are hard seltzers, softly flavored, and have around 100 calories with 2g grams of sugar. They’re new to my repertoire but I’ve been enjoying them!
What to avoid:
- Fruit juices, lots of sugar
- Heavier beers (some have almost 52 g of carbs!!) That being said, maybe just ignore the cover photo..bad guwl!!
- Regular sodas
- Frozen drinks, still so much sugar
Summer should be fun and enjoyable and focused on making memories vs hyper focusing on calories. I know I’ve been guilty of it so I wanted to share some of the knowledge I’ve gained along the way to help minimize people’s anxiety. Also, if you’re ever unsure or curious about a drink just google it, that’s what I do! I like to have my cake and eat it too and these combos have allowed me to do that..for the most part! Cheers to warm weather!
Till next time,
